Why choose Spring for your Lavender on the Lake wedding? 5 reasons here!
First of all, Spring in Florida is one of my most favorite seasons. As a former teacher, it meant summer was near, and as a mom it has always meant that my children were less stressed with the knowledge that summer was almost here. I grew up in Ohio, so something that I love about being a Floridian are the balmy breezes , swaying palm trees, and Southern blooming flowers. Now, after having built this venue, we have the honor of watching the most spectacular sunsets over the lake.
Spring, the most popular season for a Florida wedding does not come as a surprise to me. Whether you are planning a destination wedding, or are a Florida Native, spring- and Lavender on the Lake in particular-offers the ideal backdrop for saying “I do.” That lake? Seriously it’s the best old Florida view.

Side note: this photo was taken during one of our Spring 2025 weddings, and I just love seeing them walking hand in hand on our fabulous dock.
1. Beautiful Weather
March and early April typically are lower in humidity with minimal rain compared to the summer months. Spring in Florida tends to bring warm days with cooler evenings. Therefore, we see our couples being able to hold pleasant outdoor ceremonies and cocktail hour without the extreme heat. In addition, our couples are able to watch our farm spring back after a cooler winter without those unpredictable summer/ hurricane season storms.

2. Blooming Florals
Florida offers an incredible variety of native flowers that flourish this time of year. Colorful wildflowers, vibrant bougainvillea, zinnias, hibiscus, and delicate orchids make for simple bouquets, floral arches and centerpieces. For me, it’s all about the wildflowers. We finally have gotten a few good rains so I cannot wait for my zinnias and wildflowers to start blooming! As a growing Florida flower farm, I can’t wait to be able to add some of our flowers to various spaces in the venue to spruce things up.

3. Stunning Venues, Indoors and Out
There are so many options in Florida for the perfect wedding spot for every type of couple. From beachside resorts to historic venues to old estates to barn venues and tropical gardens, Florida has a wide range of venues perfect for spring weddings. From beachside venues like Harbour House to historic venues such as the Lightner Museum. Also from old estates like Bella Cosa to outdoor venues like the Tree House; there is a place for everyone. Florida boasts a large variety of stunning venues! Lavender on the Lake has a beautiful lakeside cocktail area that is shaded by a fabulous old, live oak tree. You can catch a glimpse of it behind -and below-our sweet couple here.

4. Fresh Catches and Seasonal Flavors
Spring is the perfect time to feature fresh, local cuisine here in Florida. Many caterers create beautiful presentations and delicious food using seasonal ingredients like fresh seafood, citrus fruits such as lemon or lime along with tropical touches like mango and pineapple. (We grow pineapples here at LOTL!) Therefore, so many of our couples are opting for Spring-inspired cocktails—with a lavender twist of course! Additionally, we have seen lavender lemonade and lavender infused mojitos or margaritas. Regardless, it’s super fun to add a fresh, Florida element to your reception.

5. A Reason for Tourist Season
Also, Florida summers are traditionally sweltering, and along with the heat comes peak hurricane season. Therefore, having a spring wedding in Florida offers some ease and comfort with the planning. Not only is travel easier, but a spring weddings makes it super convenient for guests coming from out of town. Your guests can combine your wedding with a vacation. Tips for Planning a Spring Wedding in Florida:
- Book as early as possible: Spring is truly the most popular time for weddings and events in Florida. We are booked every Saturday from February of 2026- April of 2026. (We actually did just have a cancellation so we have 1 Saturday left in March.) Venues- and your vendors!- can book up quickly, so planning ahead is essential for ensuring you get the space that you desire.
- Consider having a weekday wedding: This is a great option for more availability and can potentially save on costs. Lavender on the Lake offers lower pricing for midweek weddings and it’s also a great way to get the vendors that you would like as well.
- Pay attention to the spring break dates: Plan accordingly because top tourist spots can be quite busy during spring break. We have our teachers planning way ahead and planning their weddings far in advance to utilize the break for their honeymoon and planning. Therefore, booking hotels or beach venues can also be pricier and harder to do during spring break.
- Use native decor: Take advantage of Florida’s natural greenery and blooming flowers to keep things organic and budget-friendly. Lavender on the Lake does not require much decor as we built our farmhouse tables out of sturdy teak wood. The wall of windows also provides the Lake Toho backdrop which seems endless in its quiet beauty.
