Valentine’s Day is almost here, and some of us may care more than others…hint, hint, Jason Chad. Truth be told, I am a total love nerd. Years ago I was quoted for saying, “I love LOVE,” which is not a lie. LOVE, in my opinion, is what makes the world go around. And what is better than watching romantic movies with your love…especially on Valentine’s Day?

Having said that, the movie Love Actually is one of my most very favorites, and I am not adding it to this list of 5 because it deserves its very own place; for me that first scene says it all. “Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion’s starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don’t see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere.”

Therefore, if you are just someone who wants an excuse to have a date night, it is the perfect time to snuggle up on the couch and watch a movie about love. Speaking of watching things, you should take a look at this little video we made at our venue when we were starting out.

Lavender on the Lake wants to suggest 5 romantic movies to watch with your love this Valentine’s Day.

(FYI-If you are still in need for some gift suggestions read here for some good inspiration.)

Lavender on the Lake’s must watch romantic movies in no particular order

1 The Notebook

We had a wedding here at Lavender on the Lake with some guests who were from California and they could not get over our lakeside sunset view. Two of the girls kept saying how much it reminded them of the movie The Notebook. Admittedly, I have not seen the movie, but I did read the book. This movie takes place in the 1940s and is a love story between mill worker, Noah Calhoun and rich girl, Allie. When I asked my friends for some help with this blog, several suggested this movie as their number one favorite romantic movies.

2 Sweet Home Alabama

New York fashion designer Melanie is engaged to the city’s most eligible bachelor. Before getting married, she decides to go back to her hometown to tie up some loose ends. Basically you can take the girl out of the South, but you can’t take the South out of the girl.

3 Pretty Woman

An unlikely pair between a man and woman coming from two separate worlds, this movie does not disappoint. When I asked Jason to name a romantic movie, this was the first one that he said.

4 Dirty Dancing

This is a classic romance from the late 80s. Baby is not excited about spending her summer at a resort in the Catskills with her parents and sister, until she meets Johnny, the handsome dance instructor. Needless to say, her summer heats up!

5 Valentine’s Day

In a series of interconnected stories, several people go through the highs and lows of love throughout Valentine’s Day and it is difficult not to connect with at least one the stories. The cast is brilliant and this flick is sure to leave you with a smile.
