There are so many wonderful ways to provide a sweet and unique experience at your wedding in lieu or in addition to the traditional wedding cake. I LOVE my sweets so I decided that I needed to share some creative wedding dessert bar ideas for your wedding at Lavender on the Lake.
The wedding cake is the most popular and traditional dessert option, but it is far from your only choice. Perhaps you would like to offer the tried-and-true tiered wedding cake with the addition of a dessert table that can be filled with your most favorite treats. I have seen couples share their favorite desserts with their guests such as fancy rice krispie treats, chocolate dipped pretzels or a simple grouping of candy in jars.
We wanted to share some of the current trending wedding sweets options because a dessert bar is a scrumptious space to personalize your wedding, honor your heritage, and or speak to the two of you- maybe you have a special dessert that you love to order on your date nights. A dessert table offers your guests an excuse to indulge at the end of the evening and leaves them guests on a sweet note.
1 Make things Mini.
Regardless of if you are having a wedding cake or not, including an abundance of single-bite dessert choices allows your guests to enjoy all different flavors and types of delightful treats such as brownie bites, petit fours, lemon bars, mini banana cream pie bites, or mini strawberry shortcakes.
2 Churros, churros, churros!
Who does not love a crunchy, cinnamon and sugar pastry? Why not serve them in fun glasses for a unique spin; you can also provide a spot for your friends and family to add melted chocolate, extra cinnamon powder, or even a sprinkle of confectioners sugar.
3 Build a donut tower.
Is it just me or do donuts just speak right to your soul? Maybe it’s just me, but I can not resist enjoying a donut if they are anywhere near me. Donut walls were all the rage, but now couples are choosing to create a clean donut tower. (Beware, if you do this at Lavender, just have your planner hand me one so that I don’t ruin the aesthetics.)

4 Create a cookie table.
You just cannot go wrong with providing a beautiful table of your favorite scrumptious cookies. From chocolate chip, to cut out hearts, to white chocolate macadamia you can offer a cookie that will appeal to all! This is an easy thing for guests to wrap into a napkin as they leave the reception at the end of the night as well.
5 Bring a fun and refreshing experience.
There are so many mobile vendors who offer services such as small servings of ice cream, cotton candy, etc. Recently, I had the pleasure of meeting the owner of the cutest and yummiest artisan popsicle tricycle cart called Wheelie Good Pops. Ashley offers 25 delicious flavors including dairy-free and gluten-free options which is an amazing way to be sure that all of your family and friends gets to enjoy something sugary at your wedding. Not only are you able to provide a fun and delicious cool treat for your guests, but you also have an adorable photo opportunity! I couldn’t help myself. I just had to take a ride!
Overall, you can make a dessert table to be as elaborate or as simple as you would like AND I am here for it! It is YOUR wedding and adding your own unique touches to the day makes it that much sweeter!
